About the Casebook

The PHCN Casebook is like an informal journal - we regularly publish brief descriptions of public health commissioning problems or situations our members have encountered, how they approached them, and what lessons were learned - we need your stories!

The important thing is that lessons which have been learned in one part of the NHS can be used elsewhere - and mistakes made (for whatever reason), are not repeated.  Similarly we want examples of good practice to be more easily available to others, so don't be shy - if there's a piece of work which went well, submit a brief description of it to the Casebook. You can include a link to your full work if you wish.

With the impending reorganisation of the NHS and public health it is vital that knowledge is not lost during the transition period.

Submit your experience to the Casebook

Had an experience or situation in commissioning (good or bad) you think others may benefit from?  We'd love to hear from you, and share what you've learned with others in PHCN - and if it's a sensitive issue we're happy to anonymise the description.

You can submit your experience in whatever format you like, and it needn't be a long essay - a couple of informative paragraphs would be fine. Don't worry with getting it perfect first time - if you send your initial thoughts we'll get in touch to help develop it into the Casebook format.  We have a list of suggested headings which you may like to consider in order for others to learn the most from your experience - please email us with your submission or if you have any questions about the Casebook:

What's in it for me?

We think submitting ideas to the national PHCN Casebook is an excellent way of demonstrating CPD (and a good way of getting your work on the web and shared widely, if you are a trainee) - and you'll also get a warm glow from helping others, despite very little effort from you!  Everyone publishing an article in the Casebook will be asked if they would like to receive a paper or electronic certificate which they can use for CPD purposes.

Go on - send us something now (it'll only take a few minutes!)
